From July 1996 onwards, I undertook a difficult task. I began to study and develop step by step an original concept using the few documents I had received.
13th June 1997
“Agefi” devoted an article (3/4 of a page) presenting myself and my most important achievements, notably the study and analysis of 74 life insurance policies and life annuities from 19 insurance companies for a single well-known Client in the French-speaking area.
The article also presented cutting edge of Financial Lines Insurance, to be insured by Lloyd’s Underwriters in London. On the 21 July 1998, Mr. John Mitchell, said that in his time as a Lloyd’s Broker in London, he had never received so much business as in the period from June 1997 to June 1998. I explained to Mr Mitchell that my company sent a personalized file to different banks, asset management firms and financial institutions located in Geneva and Lausanne proposing cover to insure their risk exposure.
4th Febuary 1998
To become an authorized Lloyd’s Broker one has to present a complete application to the OFAP (Federal Office of Private Insurance). Mr. R. Hofer said (ex-Manager of the Lloyd’s office in Zurich), it takes four to six weeks to receive a reply.
However, our file was accepted in less than 2 days. Mr. Hofer, told Mr. Noujaim that he had been told by the Manager of the OFAP:
“I have never seen an application file of such high quality, which is why I accepted it in less than two days”.
June 1998
We met Mr. Andrew Beazley, Active Underwriter of one of the largest Lloyd’s syndicates, which bears his name, at Lloyd’s in London. He told Mr Noujaim he considered that the documents we sent him for Financial Lines were an entirely original concept in the history of Lloyd’s. No Insurance Broker in Switzerland or abroad had ever achieved such quality.
21st July 1998
Mr. John Mitchell, at that time Senior Executive Director of SBJ Lloyd's Broker, told us that in his 18 years of experience at Lloyd’s, he had never seen a request for Binding Authority for Lloyd’s approved in less than 48 hours.
October 1998
An article was published in “Bilan” Magazine presenting our Concept and some of the cover we are able to offer to our clients in the French-speaking area.
15th June 1999
Mr Noujaim had the chance to meet Mr Mark Wheeler, at that time Director of SVB syndicate of Lloyd’s in London.
Our presentation of the Concept and its supporting documents were accepted by him, he agreed that we should become one of their correspondents, partners in Switzerland.
